RV Park / RV Campground – 4 Guys RV Park at the Gorge – Red River Gorge, Kentucky

Located within a few miles of Natural Bridge State Resort Park and Red River Gorge Geological Area in Daniel Boone National Forest lies 4 Guys RV Park. Set on a 72-acre former farm, this RV park boasts 45 full hook-up sites that can comfortably accommodate any size rig. We had the opportunity to interview one of the owners, Larry Drake, and learned the history behind the park.

The owners, all RV’ers themselves, grew frustrated over their years of traveling to the RV parks that made it difficult to get rigs, big or small, parked at a campsite. Their vision focused on a campground with long drives and easy-to-access sites. They realized that dream when opening their RV park over Memorial Day weekend in 2016. Each of their sites boasts an angled, easy-to-back-into drive with a large gravel pad with a picnic table and 4GRV steel fire ring. The park offers guests a well-stocked fishing pond, general store, firewood supply and swimming pool. There’s also an on-site laundry facility and shower house with six individual bathrooms and showers. At the time of this article, the owners had plans to add 16 full hook-up sites and a second shower house with an additional two to three bathrooms.

When asked why campers keep returning to 4GRV, Larry attributed it to their laidback style and willingness to help people.

He elaborated with stories of changing tires, assisting a new 5th wheel owner back into a campsite and fixing a camper’s A/C unit. The park does have a laidback, community feel, and the owners, Larry, Brian and Rob, do a phenomenal job of hosting activities throughout the year to bring people together. Holiday weekends are enhanced by cookouts, cornhole tournaments and fishing competitions for the kids. Fourth of July weekend is chock-full of fireworks, and Halloween weekend features a slew of trick-or-treating ghosts and goblins. The year ends with a customer appreciation weekend, complete with store discount items, complimentary breakfast, a massive bonfire and plenty of smoked meats. But no worries: The camping year never truly ends at 4GRV; 15 sites remain open year-round for the traveler looking to get away offseason.

Unique to this location is a wedding barn venue that Larry’s wife, Jennifer Drake, owns and operates. Couples wanting a vintage barn wedding can book The Barn at the Gorge (www.redrivergorgeweddingbarn.net) that can comfortably accommodate camping guests next door at 4GRV.

Whether it’s Sandy from the front office creating arts and crafts for the kids on busy weekends; to the pond full of catfish, bass and bluegill just waiting to be fished; to relaxing by your campfire enjoying a beverage, there is a multitude of reasons to stay at 4GRV. Come and find your purpose. Click here for more information on 4GRV.
