RV Park / RV Campground – Pigeon Forge Landing
Photographed and Written by Randy and Caly Behymer
Nestled along the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee lie some of the Midwest’s most important tourist destinations and most-visited national parks: Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There’s an abundance of campground options in these areas, although many are crowded, tightly packed, challenging to navigate, and lack peace and quiet. Recently, however, a new campground option emerged, ticking just about every box on the ideal campground list. RVC Outdoor Destinations invited RV Destinations Magazine to visit their latest location in Sevierville: Pigeon Forge Landing (PFL). This RV resort opened in April 2021, with Phase One of their two-phase rollout, providing RVers and campers a taste of what’s to come for this RV resort.
RVC Outdoor Destinations offers an exclusive collection of RV resorts, cabins, tiny homes, yurts and glamping tents in nine locations across the United States. RVC is much more than just a campground, however. Their philosophy behind camping is to become the destination versus simply a place to stop for the night. Their RV resorts include amenities like ziplining, pontoon boat rentals, golf cart rentals, fishing ponds, large dog-run areas, live music nights, poolside dive-in movies, a fitness room, dog wash and level concrete sites, to name a few. RVC is a family of campgrounds that have listened to RVers over the years to create destinations in locations that fit every type of RVer, camper and traveler. Not sure where to start? You can speak to one of their travel concierges to plan the perfect getaway that checks all your boxes.
RVC left no stone unturned when creating, planning and implementing Pigeon Forge Landing. The park is conveniently located off the main drag in Pigeon Forge (Route 441) at traffic light number 12.6. Turning onto Apple Valley Road is easily navigable for rigs of any size, and the park is located just a mile back off the main drag. When pulling up directions to the park, use the directions located on the PFL website, as other GPS services may take travelers down backroads that aren’t passable for RVs. A large, wide entry drive greets you upon arrival, and you can park your rig and check-in at the beautiful front office. The park itself is simple to navigate and located on a level piece of land. Driveways are large and wide, and all sites are spacious with flat, wide concrete pads. Seasoned RVers know that a flat, level concrete pad is a coveted amenity for parking your rig and setting up camp. PFL sits on a former cornfield nestled directly behind the Titanic Museum Attraction. Considering how close it is to the main drag in Pigeon Forge, this park is quiet, feels secluded and provides excellent views of Mount Le Conte. Currently, there aren’t mature trees within the center of the park, but plenty of trees surround the perimeter of the park and the West Prong Little Pigeon River. New trees are planted within to provide more shade in the future, and PFL has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation. For guests wishing to add to the cause, you can sponsor a tree to plant within the park, which includes a personalized plaque.
Pigeon Forge Landing is full of amenities and features galore, with more to come with the opening of Phase Two. Phase Two brings an additional 100 sites on top of the current 150 and five glamping tents (think bathroom, AC/heat, beds, TV, etc.), two large family tents, and three two-person tents. PFL and other RVC locations feature a resort-style pay system, allowing guests to charge to their site for items purchased in the store, such as firewood and golf cart rentals. PFL has embraced becoming the destination and providing services not seen at other campgrounds. A kiosk will soon take the place of the wall of tourist pamphlets, and guests will be able to purchase tickets for every attraction in Pigeon Forge directly from the kiosk. As an added perk, discounts will be applied to tickets simply for being a guest of PFL. Another unique feature of this RV park is the access to the condos located just outside the PFL property. These condos are available to rent for guests staying at PFL, and guests will have access to all the amenities that PFL offers. This is a perfect way to have a family reunion and get all family members together; RVers and non-RVers alike.
What does the future hold for Pigeon Forge Landing? While promises can’t be made, there are talks of on-site street-legal golf cart rentals to use in Pigeon Forge and kayak and tube rentals for use on the West Prong Little Pigeon River. The land located next to PFL is already in the beginning stages of development, and rumors are abuzz about who the new neighbor will be. Will it be a new restaurant venue? A brewery? A winery? Or an exciting new attraction? Only time will tell, but whomever the new neighbor turns out to be, their services will be accessible to all PFL guests.
Centrally located to Pigeon Forge, Pigeon Forge Landing is simple to access and offers unique amenities not seen elsewhere, all wrapped up in a peaceful and quiet setting nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. What more could you ask for? If you think of something, I’m sure PFL has already thought about it and has it ready and waiting for you. Click here for more information on Pigeon Forge Landing.
